The West African Examinations Council, a sub-regional organization responsible for the conduct of a variety of examinations in the English-speaking West African countries, invites applications from suitably qualified person to fill the vacant position as: Computer Programmers in its Nigeria National Office and the Lagos Department of its Headquarters Research Division.

Job title: Computer Programmers

Job Location: Lagos

Qualification(s)



  • Applicants should possess a minimum of B.Sc (Hons) degree (at least Second Class Lower Division) in Computer Science, or equivalent from a recognized University

  • Applicants should have functional knowledge of at least three of the following languages: Visual Basic (visual Studio.Net) Visual Foxpro, COBOL, C++, JAVA

  • Applicant must possess five credits including English Language and Mathematics at a sitting in WASSCE/SSCE/GCE"0" Level or six credits including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings in WASSCE/SSCE/GCE "0" Level

  • Applicants should not be more than 35years of age as at the close of applications except those for the positions of Senior Purchasing/Procurement Officer and Senior Public Affairs Officer who should not be more than 40years


Job Experience & skills



  • A minimum of three years experience

  • Applicant should also be familiar with the following operating systems: MS-DOS, Windows 2008 Server (and beyond), OS/400, and Open VMS

  • Applicant must be able to use personal computers, office software packages and have knowledge of web-based systems

  • Applicant must be self motivated and able to write good reports; analyse and review research reports: be able to work extra hours with little or no supervision

  • Applicant must be team player with good inter-personal skills; be open and able to lead change

  • Applicant must possess influencing skills

  • Applicant must be organizers/planners with ability to be flexible and finishers with ability to successfully implement ideas

  • Applicant must possess analytical and communication skills
