Project Manager BBC World Service Trust – Vacancies and Jobs

The BBC World Service Trust in Nigeria is seeking to recruit an experience Project Manage to manage the Media Support for Self Advocacy, Good Governance and Empowerment (MESSAGE) program. The project aims to address these issues through media development activities which is designed to boost the capacity of media partners in six focal states to serve the public interest through greater editorial and financial independence and professionalism while adhering to international standards of news reporting and programme making. The contract duration is expected to be one years, with 3 three months probation period and a start date in July 2011. Salary will be based on experience but does not include moving or relocation allowance to duty station.

Qualification(s)

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities, Social Science or any related field


• A master’s degree will be an advantage

Job Experience & skills

• Minimum of 3-5 years working experience specially in the management and implementation of donor funded project, including logframes and deliverables and a demonstrated commitment to media and development in West Africa


• Thorough understanding of best practices in project implementation and media training and strong experience in project management


• Proven ability to analyze and critically evaluate editorial content, identifying strengths and weaknesses in programme content and driving constant improvement in output


• Possess strong oral, written communication, report writing and presentation skills and proficiency in the use of relevant information technology packages


• Experience of operating effectively in difficult, sensitive and often fluid environment


• Evidence of full conversance with the latest project management-related technology


• strong writing skills especially for web audience


• Experience in networking and relationship building

Responsibilities

• The Project Manager will take lead and provide technical direction in line with the execution and implementation policies of the BBCWST and donor requirements
