The West African Examinations Council, a sub-regional organization responsible for the conduct of a variety of examinations in the English-speaking West African countries, invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions in its Nigeria National Office and the Lagos Department of its Headquarters Research Division.

Job title: Senior Public Affairs Officer/Public Affairs Officer

Qualification(s)

• Minimum of Bachelors degree in Mass Communication (at least second class lower division) from a recognized university


• Possession of a higher degree and membership of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) will be an added advantage

Job Experience & skills

• Minimum of 3 years experience in the Public Affairs Department of a reputable organization or in the editorial or reportorial department of a reputable media outfit


• Applicants who have not majored in Mass Communication but who possess graduate diploma in Mass Communication are also eligible


• Applicants for the post of senior public affairs officers must have a minimum of 6 years post qualification experience
• He/ She should be able to use personal computers, office software packages and have knowledge of web-based systems


• Be self motivated and able to write good reports; analyze and review research reports; be able to work extra hours with little or no supervision


• Be a team player with good interpersonal skills; be open and able to lead change


• Possess influencing skills


• Be an organizer/planner with ability to be flexible and a finisher with ability to successfully implement ideas


• Possess analytical and communication skills
